Since opening in 2001 Chamberlain’s has become the must visit spot for those in the city wishing to experience the best seafood the British shores have to offer.

Executive chef Andrew Jones is classically trained: Claridge’s, The Westbury and a stint at the famous three Michelin-starred Michel Bras in France. He is also one of fewer than 30 chefs worldwide eligible to use the title ‘Roux Scholar’. The menu is filled with seafood staples as well as a changing selection of seasonal dishes.

Located in the world famous Leadenhall Market, Chamberlain’s is housed in a beautiful listed Victorian building with an original restored facade and stylish contemporary interiors.

To begin our meal we were given a selection or fresh artisanal breads with butter which came beautifully presented and prepared us for the feast that was to come.

The menu is comprehensive with the vast dishes revolving around fine seafood though a few vegetarian and meat dishes do feature. For my started I opted for the Lobster Bisque (£9.75) the dish is completed when the waiter poured over the bisque soup which fills the room with its fragrant Armagnac scent. The dish appears on the small side but it makes up for this in flabour and is a great light option to start your meal. The soup is thick and a rich orange in colour, it was a delight.

Main options included Lemon and Dover sole, Sea Bass and Skate but I opted for the deliciously sounding Butter Poached Scottish Lobster (£38). The dish lived up to its salivating name, the lobster came garnished with mousseline potato, Heritage carrots, morel and lobster vinaigrette. The combination of the different ingredients worked perfectly with the vinaigrette giving the ingredients that extra kick. The lobsters are perfectly sized for a satisfying meal.

Though quite full we still made room for dessert, with the Cherry & Valrhona Chocolate Cheesecake (£7.50) taking our fancy. The dessert comes beautifully presented in a large plate adorned with fresh cut strawberries, chocolate sauce, icing sugar and event flower petals for a creation that not only satisfies but is a feast for the eyes.  The cheesecake is rich but light, with a deep chocolate base and tangy cheese filling. A tasty sweet treat to end a highly satisfying and delicious meal.
